Leucothoe vaderotti, a new Atlantic Leucothoe (Crustacea, Amphipoda) belonging to the “spinicarpa-clade” (Crustacea, Amphipoda)
Within the international IceAGE project (Icelandic marine Animals: Genetics and Ecology) some leucothoid amphipods (Crustacea) were collected, among them a rather small new species, belonging to the "Leucothoe spinicarpa-clade."
متن کاملPhylogenetic and Biogeographic Analysis of Deiphonine Trilobites
Cladistic parsimony analysis of the subfamily Deiphoninae Raymond, 1913 was conducted to produce a hypothesis of relationship for the group. The genera Deiphon Barrande, 1850 and Onycopyge Woodward, 1880 are found to be monophyletic, while the genus Sphaerocoryphe Angelin, 1854, as it was previously defined, is paraphyletic. A modified Brooks Parsimony Analysis using the phylogenetic hypothesis...
متن کاملPhylogenetic and Biogeographic Analysis of Sphaerexochine Trilobites
BACKGROUND Sphaerexochinae is a speciose and widely distributed group of cheirurid trilobites. Their temporal range extends from the earliest Ordovician through the Silurian, and they survived the end Ordovician mass extinction event (the second largest mass extinction in Earth history). Prior to this study, the individual evolutionary relationships within the group had yet to be determined uti...
متن کاملCryptorchestia ruffoi sp. n. from the island of Rhodes (Greece), revealed by morphological and phylogenetic analysis (Crustacea, Amphipoda, Talitridae)
A new Cryptorchestia species, Cryptorchestia ruffoi Latella & Vonk, sp. n. from the island of Rhodes in south-eastern Greece, can be distinguished on the basis of morphological and phylogenetic data. Morphological analysis and DNA sequencing of mitochondrial and nuclear protein-coding genes indicated that this species is related to Cryptorchestia cavimana (Cyprus) and Cryptorchestia garbinii (M...
متن کاملAmpithoidae (Crustacea, Amphipoda) from New Zealand
Ampithoidae is a family of marine Amphipoda with approximately 230 species, belonging to 16 genera. The family has a worldwide distribution as algal dwellers. So far only five species are known from New Zealand. Recent collections and examination of historic collection material added two new species, which are described herein.
